What Audit Context Building does

Audit Context Building analyzes an unfamiliar codebase to map functions, assumptions, guarantees, and dependencies before any vulnerability hunting. Use it at the start of an audit, threat model, or architecture review to produce dossiers and open questions that feed later phases.

Audit Context Building is cataloged under Quality on DirSkills. Audit Context Building comes from a repository tagged agent-skills.

Audit Context Building

Build understanding, not verdicts. This runs before anyone hunts for bugs, and feeds that work.

When to Use

At the start of an audit, a threat model, or an architecture review, when the code is unfamiliar. Also when an earlier pass produced findings nobody could judge, because no one had mapped out how the system fits together.

When NOT to Use

Do not name vulnerabilities, suggest fixes, write proofs-of-concept, or rate severity. Those belong to the hunting phase, which runs next and with the whole picture in hand. When the code counts on something and nothing checks it, record that plainly and move on β€” whether it matters is decided later.

Not worth the tokens on code you already understand.

Do not analyze in this context

This is the opening of the README. Read the full README on GitHub.

Frequently asked about Audit Context Building

  • What else does trailofbits publish alongside Audit Context Building?

Audit Context Building is one of 25 skills that DirSkills catalogs from trailofbits/skills, the repository it ships in. Its siblings there include Agentic Actions Auditor, Algorand Vulnerability Scanner and Audit Prep Assistant. Each one is a separate skill with its own page in this directory, installs the same way Audit Context Building does, and is maintained by trailofbits in that same repository. The rest of the collection is listed on the trailofbits/skills page.

  • How does Audit Context Building compare to other Quality skills?

Audit Context Building ranks #244 by stars among the 1354 Quality skills in this catalog. The most-starred ones next to it are Benchmark, Benchmark Optimization Loop and API Design Patterns.
