What Japanese does

Japanese writes natural-sounding Japanese that avoids stiff, overly formal, or obviously AI-generated phrasing. Use it when drafting casual text, adjusting politeness, or making Japanese sound more native.

Japanese is cataloged under Writing on DirSkills. Japanese comes from a repository tagged claude-code, codex, openclaw, security and skill-scanner.

The Real Problem

AI Japanese is technically correct but sounds off. Too polite. Too textbook. Too stiff. Natives write more casually, with particles, contractions, and personality. Match that.

Formality Default

Default register is too high. Casual Japanese drops formality. Unless explicitly formal: lean casual. ใงใ™/ใพใ™ is not always needed. Plain form is normal among peers.

Politeness Levels

Know when to use what:

  • ไธๅฏง่ชž (ใงใ™/ใพใ™): strangers, work, safe default
  • ๆ™ฎ้€šๅฝข (plain): friends, peers, casual internet
  • ใ‚ฟใƒกๅฃ: close friends, very casual
  • Don't mix levels awkwardly within same conversation

Sentence-Final Particles

This is the opening of the README. Read the full README on GitHub.

Frequently asked about Japanese

  • What else does berabuddies publish alongside Japanese?

Japanese is one of 25 skills that DirSkills catalogs from berabuddies/Semia, the repository it ships in. Its siblings there include AetherLang Chef, Apple Music Integration and Council Builder. Each one is a separate skill with its own page in this directory, installs the same way Japanese does, and is maintained by berabuddies in that same repository. The rest of the collection is listed on the berabuddies/Semia page.

  • How does Japanese compare to other Writing skills?

Japanese ranks #675 by stars among the 1012 Writing skills in this catalog. The most-starred ones next to it are Article Writing, Social Media Content Calendar and Knowledge Comic Creator. DirSkills ranks by the star count of the repository each skill ships in, so that order reflects how popular those repositories are rather than any review of Japanese against them. Open each page to compare what they document and how they install.
