Original Research, Review, Mini Review, Systematic Review, Perspective, Brief Research Report, Methods, and others per the Frontiers type list — each with its own length/structure spec on the journal site.
Manuscript structure
Title → Authors & affiliations → Abstract → Keywords → Introduction → Materials and Methods → Results → Discussion → Conclusion → Conflict of Interest statement → Author Contributions → Funding → Data Availability → References.
- Abstract: unstructured, ≤~350 words (type-dependent; confirm).
- Keywords: 5–8.
- Mandatory Frontiers statements: Conflict of Interest, Author Contributions, Funding, Data Availability, and Ethics (for human/animal studies).
Reference style
Frontiers reference style (author–date). In-text (Author et al., 2023); alphabetical reference list with full author lists and DOIs.
Example:

Figures & tables
Figures ≥300 dpi (line art ≥600); TIFF/EPS/JPEG; RGB; editable tables; cite in order. Frontiers checks image integrity at submission.
