What Pricing does

Guides founders to determine product pricing by defining value metrics, packaging tiers, and finding the right number based on evidence, not fear. Use when stuck on pricing decisions or overcoming the belief that developers won't pay.

Pricing is cataloged under AI Engineering on DirSkills. Pricing comes from a repository tagged agent-skills, ai, ai-founders, claude and claude-code.

Pricing (what to charge, and how)

Price is not a number you pick at the end. It is a positioning decision: it tells the market who you are, what you replace, and how much you believe you are worth. Get it from evidence, not fear.

Use this when: you are guessing at a price, you priced on a gut feeling and now feel stuck with it, you don't know where the free line goes, developers use it and nobody pays, or you believe "developers won't pay for this" so you have never charged at all.

The core idea

Three decisions, in order. Most founders skip to the third and wonder why nothing converts.

This is the opening of the README. Read the full README on GitHub.

Frequently asked about Pricing

  • What else does AIDevGTM publish alongside Pricing?

Pricing is one of 18 skills that DirSkills catalogs from AIDevGTM/gtm-cofounder, the repository it ships in. Its siblings there include Beyond the Wrapper, DevTool Homepage and First 50 Users. Each one is a separate skill with its own page in this directory, installs the same way Pricing does, and is maintained by AIDevGTM in that same repository. The rest of the collection is listed on the AIDevGTM/gtm-cofounder page.

  • How does Pricing compare to other AI Engineering skills?

Pricing ranks #2232 by stars among the 2451 AI Engineering skills in this catalog. The most-starred ones next to it are Architecture Decision Records, AI-First Engineering and Agentic OS. DirSkills ranks by the star count of the repository each skill ships in, so that order reflects how popular those repositories are rather than any review of Pricing against them. Open each page to compare what they document and how they install.

Beyond the Wrapper

Learn to position an AI product to overcome the "just a wrapper" objection. Focus on real differentiators like data, workflow, and trust, and craft messaging that puts the problem first, not the AI.

DevTool Homepage

Structure a dev-tool homepage that converts developers into champions. Use when the landing page speaks to buyers, reads as salesy, buries the product, or lacks a clear start.

First 50 Users

Helps founders find the first 50 real users by going where their ICP already discovers tools. Use it after launch when posting more, community-building, or ads are not producing users.

Founder-Led Content

Build authority by teaching the problem space, not announcing features. Use when the founder finds 'marketing' distasteful and does none, publishes only product updates, or wants a sustainable content and GitHub-README strategy that developers actually respect.

Founder-led Sales

Coach technical founders through selling: finding champions and buyers, running sales conversations, demoing use cases, handling stalls, and closing first paying customers. For founders who've never sold and need to turn free users into revenue.

Know If It's Working

Measure GTM effectiveness using net developer retention and the DREAM funnel instead of vanity metrics like stars and pageviews. Use when dashboards are full but you can’t tell if your go-to-market is actually working.
