What Asset Optimization does

Asset Optimization validates Blender assets for polycount, topology, UVs, materials, naming, and performance before export. Use it for cleanup, LOD generation, and scene-wide game-ready checks via MCP.

Asset Optimization is cataloged under Quality on DirSkills. Asset Optimization comes from a repository tagged 3d-models, agent, agent-skills, blender and blender-addon.

Documentation

README

Asset Optimization

Enforce budgets. Clean geometry. Game-ready validation gate before export.

When to Use

  • Before every export
  • After modeling complete
  • LOD generation
  • Scene-wide performance audit
  • Pre-delivery validation

Workflow

Audit → Identify Issues → Fix → Re-Audit → LOD Generation → Validation Report

Audit Checklist

Run via MCP scene queries where possible:

Geometry

  • Triangle count vs budget (../references/polycount-budgets.md)
  • Duplicate vertices merged
  • Loose geometry removed
  • Non-manifold fixed
  • Interior faces deleted
  • Applied transforms (scale 1,1,1)

UVs

  • Pack efficiency > 75%
  • Texel density consistent
  • No unintended overlaps

Frequently asked about Asset Optimization

  • What else does arjun988 publish alongside Asset Optimization?

Asset Optimization is one of 25 skills that DirSkills catalogs from arjun988/blender-skills, the repository it ships in. Its siblings there include Analog Found Footage Horror, Animation and Anime Style. Each one is a separate skill with its own page in this directory, installs the same way Asset Optimization does, and is maintained by arjun988 in that same repository. The rest of the collection is listed on the arjun988/blender-skills page.

  • How does Asset Optimization compare to other Quality skills?

Asset Optimization ranks #1734 by stars among the 1817 Quality skills in this catalog. The most-starred ones next to it are Benchmark, Benchmark Optimization Loop and API Design Patterns. DirSkills ranks by the star count of the repository each skill ships in, so that order reflects how popular those repositories are rather than any review of Asset Optimization against them. Open each page to compare what they document and how they install.
